Smartphone Sensor Explained
Ever wondered how your smartphone sensor works? How it switches off or how it changes its orientation?Well in my today's post i am going to explain you the different sensors that are used by our smartphone
Lets begin.....
Accelerometer:
Most of you have heard about this in tech videos .The accelerometer reads the acceleration of the device along with X,Y,Z axes. The accelerometer senses any tilt or motion and conveys it to the operating system. So whenever you tilt your phone it is the sensor which triggers a change in the screen orientation ..The sensors are very sensitive.
Gyroscope:
Mostly gyroscope in used in racing games. It measures the angular acceleration your smartphone while the accelerometer measures linear acceleration. Both the sensors are used to get a accurate depiction of how your phone is oriented and how it came into orientation from its previous position
Compass:
Technically it is called magnetometer. It detects the variation in magnetic field to figure out the direction. The compass is mostly used in GPS to depict the direction.
Steps Counter:
Nike+,Cardio Trainer and most of the fitness app use step counter. It measures the number of steps a smartphone user takes.Currently accelerometer and gyroscope are used to measures how many steps a person has taken.Step counter is just a specialized implementation which uses consumes less juice of your battery
Ambient Light Sensor:
It accurately measures the brightness of a room. The information is then used to adjust the screen brightness according to the room lighting to make it easier on the user eyes. Most of the mid range and flagship devices comes with ALS.
Proximity Sensor:
Ever wondered whenever you receive a call you place you phone near your ear and automatically your smartphone screen switches off to save the battery life. This is due to proximity sensor in your smartphone.
Global Positioning System:
Well most of you would be aware about this.A GPS communicates with the satellite to determine your position on the earth whenever we are lost on lonely paths GPS comes to rescue.
Temperature:
Measures the temperature around the smartphone.Well this sensor is found mostly on high end devices .Most of the high end devices like Samsung galaxy S4 and S5 comes with this sensor
Barometer:
A barometer is a scientific instrument used to measure atomic pressure.A barometer in smartphone is use provide faster GPS lock.
Well this is my first post hope you all learn something from my post .If i missed any of the sensors please comment and tell me
